The desktop tracker creates the evidence behind your timesheet. It records tracking state, heartbeat, screenshot captures, upload status, and queue health while you are working.
Starting tracked work
Open Anastasis Desktop.
Check Permission gate. If tracking is blocked, grant screen-recording permission first.
Click Start under Tracking controls when billable work begins.
Use Pause for breaks and Stop when you are done.
Review Screenshot capture queue if you want to see what is waiting to sync.
What gets recorded
- Tracking state — IDLE, RUNNING, PAUSED, STOPPED, BLOCKED, or REVOKED.
- Screenshots — captured at a fixed cadence of every 5 minutes while tracking is running.
- Heartbeat — the app checks in every 30 seconds while connected.
- Queue count — screenshots waiting for upload.
- Last sync and last captured timestamps.
If you are offline, screenshots stay in the local queue and retry upload later. The app shows Sync pending uploads for a manual retry.
What blocks tracking
Tracking is blocked when screenshot permission is missing, the device is revoked, or the runtime cannot maintain a valid device session. If the app shows REVOKED, contact Anastasis before doing more billable work on that computer.
